History by Gil Hoffman:

On February 23, 1921 the Apollonia Lumber Company, a Delaware corporation, purchased the sawmill plant and timber holdings of the Gammill Lumber Company at Pelahatchie, Rankin County. The price paid was reportedly between four and five million dollars. Around a billion feet of stumpage was included in the deal, made up mostly of shortleaf pine. The company was chartered with $500,000 in capital stock and took its name from one of the sisters of E. P. Denkmann, the principal stockholder in the company.

On February 7, 1929 the company was absorbed into the Pearl River Valley Lumber Company, also owned by Denkmann. The company's charter was withdrawn on October 10, 1933 after the mill cut out. On December 7, 1934 the mill "mysteriously" burned to the ground, some said by arson.
