On July 1, 1921 L. O. Crosby and Lamont Rowlands bought the holdings of J. M. Griffin, at Blodgett, Jones County, for approximately $1,500,000 and changed the name to the C. & R. Lumber Company."C. & R." were the initials of Crosby and Rowlands.The purchase included 48,000 acres of timber in Greene and Wayne counties.The mill at Blodgett was a single circular type with a cutting capacity of 80,000 feet per day.
