History by Gil Hoffman:

On April 10, 1912, the stockholders of the Lockwood Lumber Company, operating a sawmill at Pelahatchie, Rankin County, voted to transfer all the assets of the company to the newly formed Gammill Lumber Company in return for a like amount of stock in the new company. The Gammill Lumber Company had been incorporated at Pelahatchie in April 1912 with a paid-in capital stock of $250,000, the incorporators being many of the same people who held stock in the Lockwood Lumber Company. The new company was formed because the charter of the Lockwood Lumber Company was defective, the organization never having been reported to the Secretary of State, as required by law.

The sawmill plant, logging railroad and timber holdings in Rankin, Scott and Leake counties were sold to the Apollonia Lumber Company on February 23, 1921.
