HISTORY:

The Gloster Southern Railroad was began operations in August 1986 after acquiring the rail line between Gloster, MS and Slaughter, LA from Illinois Central Gulf RR. Gloster Southern RR was owned by Georgia-Pacific Corp., who operated a large plywood mill at Gloster. When this mill shut down in December 2002, the railroad ended operations. The mill was restarted in September 2004, but the railroad was never opened back up and applied for abandonment in December 2009.

Gloster Southern RR also took over operation of the Columbia & Silver Creek RR between Columbia and Silver Creek, MS from November 1988 until it was abandoned in December 1995.
