History by Tony Howe: When the newly-formed Columbus & Greenville decided to abandon its branch from Itta Bena to Belzoni, a group of businessmen in the area formed the Itta Bena & Belzoni Railroad to buy the line, which it did on August 22, 1923. The operation was not a success, and the railroad was abandoned in 1928. |
