History

W.
B. Leeke bought his first timberland, consisting of 720 acres northwest of
Baxterville, on November 14, 1902. The W. B. Leeke Company was
incorporated at Baxterville, Lamar County, on May 5, 1904, by W. B. Leeke,
T. P. Lawless, R. W. Hinton, A. S. Hinton, H. C. Yawn and W. P. Haynes with
authorized capital stock of $25,000. On
Novemner 30, 1910, the mill site, storehouse and company dwellings plus land
near the mill was leased for 5 years to the Pinebur Turpentine Co.
