The Memphis & Charleston Railroad was incorporated in 1846 and completed their route from Memphis eastward to Chattanooga, TN in 1857. It passed through the northeast corner of Mississippi through the towns of Corinth and Iuka. It became part of the Southern Railway system in 1894.
