Cochran
& Grisham was
a partnership composed of John O. Grisham, Joseph Grisham and J. W. Stone.
In 1899 a sawmill was built at Denny, Jackson County, about a mile south of
the Mobile, Jackson & Kansas City Railroad, in what is now the
southwestern part of Lucedale.
The
Mississippi Yellow Pine Lumber Company was incorporated at Denny,
Jackson County on December 23, 1899, by John O. Grisham, Joseph Grisham and
J. W. Stone, Jr., with authorized capital stock of $50,000. On February 2,
1900 the assets of Cochran & Grisham were sold to the Mississippi Yellow
Pine Lumber Company for $29,600.
On
January 21, 1902, the assets were sold to the K. C. Lumber Company,
of Lucedale, Jackson County.
