History by Gil Hoffman:

Cochran & Grisham was a partnership composed of John O. Grisham, Joseph Grisham and J. W. Stone. In 1899 a sawmill was built at Denny, Jackson County, about a mile south of the Mobile, Jackson & Kansas City Railroad, in what is now the southwestern part of Lucedale.

The Mississippi Yellow Pine Lumber Company was incorporated at Denny, Jackson County on December 23, 1899, by John O. Grisham, Joseph Grisham and J. W. Stone, Jr., with authorized capital stock of $50,000. On February 2, 1900 the assets of Cochran & Grisham were sold to the Mississippi Yellow Pine Lumber Company for $29,600.

On January 21, 1902, the assets were sold to the K. C. Lumber Company, of Lucedale, Jackson County.
