Depot
Louisville & Nashville depot at Pecan, Mississippi was a
typical small-town L&N depot. Pecan was a small community in eastern
Jackson County, between Pascagoula and the Alabama state line.

L&N Pass
Christian Depot
The Louisville & Nashville depot at Pass Christian, Mississippi
as it appeared about 1940. Knowing that their stations served as a gateway
to the city, the company maintained parks near some of their depots and
Pass Christian was no exception. In towns large enough to justify it,
separate freight and passenger stations were built. Here the freight depot
is across the tracks from the passenger station.

Central Panama Limited 1942
Illinois Central's premier passenger train, the Panama Limited, ran
from Chicago to New Orleans from 1911 until Amtrak took over in 1972. In
May 1942, the train received streamlined equipment and new EMD E6A's.
Here, the southbound train heads towards its early morning arrival in
Jackson, MS.

L&N Canal
Street Station
Louisville & Nashville's southbound "Humming Bird" has
just unloaded passengers at L&N picturesque Canal Street Station in
New Orleans and hostlers are pulling the consist to the coach yard at
Julia Street as L&N Train 9, the Coast Commuter train from Ocean
Springs arrives behind 4-6-2 No. 166 in this late morning scene from the
late 1940's.
