HOMETOWN MISSISSIPPI SERIES

These views of local landmarks and downtown scenes were derived from old photos and postcards. Some are paintings done by me, and others are created by improving, colorizing, and utilizing photoshop to add pieces of photos and paintings to create a more realistic and hopefully historically accurate scenes of forgotten everyday scenes of days gone by.

 

Long Beach West End

This scene along what was known as the "Old Shell Road", now the route of four-lane Highway 90 is a painting by me based on a couple of old postcards from about 1910.

Long Beach St. Thomas Church

This is an old postcard from before 1920 that was colorized and improved using photoshop and completely redoing the treees, water, sky, and streetcar and improving the details of the church building itself.

L&N's northbound Humming Bird crosses W. T. Smith Lumber Co.'s narrow gauge log train just south of Chapman, Alabama.
