HISTORY:

In 1998 Kansas City Southern Railway sold 70.2 miles of former GM&O trackage from Middleton, TN to Houston, MS to North American Railnet, Inc. who then formed the Mississippi Tennessee Railnet to operate this railroad.  In 2003 the railroad was sold to Ironhorse Resources, Inc. ,who renamed it to Mississippi Tennessee Railroad. In 2004, Mississippi Tennessee RR abandoned 43.2 miles of track from New Albany to Houston, MS. In 2008, the company abandoned the section from near Falkner, MS to Middleton, TN, a distance of 16 miles. On November 10, 2011, Alabama & Florida Railway ( a subsidiary of Pioneer Railcorp) filed a petition to acquire the remaining line from New Albany to Falkner. The name was changed to Ripley & New Albany Railroad at that time.
