History by Gil Hoffman:

On November 12, 1912, E. S. Bostick, acting as agent for Bostick Brothers, of Meridian (composed of E. S. Bostick,

W. L. Bostick and J. W. Bostick) purchased about 1,640 acres of timber from the heirs of Edwin D. Houston for $21,540. The deed allowed seven years to cut the timber and the right to put a sawmill on the land. At the same time Bostick purchased the portable assets of the B. C. Lumber Company, at Wautubbee, Clarke County, for $9,187.50. This purchase included the sawmill plant, logging railroad and equipment. The mill was moved to a point about a mile south of the original site. For about a year the mill was operated under the Bostick Brothers name.

As successor, the Ruby Lumber Company was incorporated at Wautubbee on January 6, 1913, by the three Bostick brothers and W. O. Chipman, also of Meridian, with authorized capital stock of $20,000. The new company purchased the sawmill plant and timber holdings of the Bostick Brothers on March 14, 1913, for $31,187.50. The amount was paid by issuing $20,000 in capital stock to Bostick Brothers, and the remainder, in a deed of trust. Officers were J. M. Broach, vice president, and W. O. Chipman, secretary.

In 1917 the mill had a cutting capacity of 20,000 feet per day.
