HISTORY by Tony Howe:

Logtown was the site of several large sawmills over the years, with some dating back before the 1850's. The largest and longest lasting was the H. Weston Lumber Co. The US Government bought what was remaining at Logtown in the early 1960's, forcing the local families to leave, for construction of what became the Stennis Space Center Rocket Test Facility.
