HISTORY by Tony Howe:

Monarch was the sawmill town of the Monarch Lumber Co., which operated from 1906 to 1909, when it became the Beaver Dam Lumber Co. This mill shut down in 1915 and burned. It was rebuilt by Lancaster in 1915 and renamed back to the Monarch Lumber Co. and operated until 1919.
