HISTORY:

The West and East Railroad was chartered on April 15, 1873 and opened a railroad from Durant, MS to Lexington, MS, a distance of 12.40 miles, on October 20, 1882. It was owned by the Illinois Central Railroad. The West & East Railroad was sold to IC subsidiary Yazoo & Mississsippi Valley RR on November 30, 1886.
